Transhuwhat?!

Spelling editor says transhumance is a mistake, that it is a misspelled word. I met today a native English speaker who confessed she did not know this word; she was not the first person to tell me this. Most dictionaries define it “as the livestock’s movement in search of available pastures, over considerable distances, following seasonal patterns.” I think we can make (Last) transhumance more famous!  We still have 19 days for this: indiegogo.com

Photo taken in Romania, 2008. After giving up transhumance in favor of sedentary sheep breeding, the shepherd moved together with his family (and sheep, of course) from the mountains to the plains.

New Perks & 40% gathered

Firstly, we’d like to thank you very much for your support: it matters a lot! So far we gathered 40% of the funds we need and we have 21 days to go. We strongly believe we can reach our goal with your help on indiegogo.com
Secondly, we’ve prepared some special perks: you can now have autographed prints with pictures of your choice from the project! We decided to create these perks since we noticed that the shipping for some of the perks may be scary. As we’ve already told you, the reason for the expensive shipping is that the photo album weighs a bit over 1 kilo (see photo). So, we decided to leave the album out, for those who are happy to have prints. Prints are light, so shipping will be included in the perks. So, these are the 2 new special perks:

$25
special perk/ 1 print
An autographed print (21×30 cm) with a picture of your choice from the project
A very warm thank you on Last Transhumance Facebook page
Your name on the movie credits.
Private link to watch the film after its market release (estimated autumn 2017)
Two tickets to the premiere of „Last Transhumance” in Bucharest (estimated autumn 2017). Travel & lodging not included.
A digital wallpaper of your choice from the project (longer side 1,024 px)
*this perk will not be combined with other perks

Cristian Lascu, on Last Transhumance

Cristian Lascu, editor-at-large, National Geographic Romania, said about Last Transhumance:
“Dragos Lumpan’s transhumance means people and animals in perpetual motion, who fit the landscape, the climate, the events. On their ways, in their bags, shepherds carry not only a simple millennial type of economy, but also messages, more and more blurred, arising from an ancestral culture. A lesson of harmony with nature, of applied ecology. Is there a geographical synthesis so complete?”
